EXPERT EPOXY FLOORING
Epoxy Garage Flooring
Tired of scrubbing your garage floors weeks after the last grease spill? Well, you’re not alone! Regardless if it’s for their business or their home, our customers have never been more satisfied than after having an epoxy garage coating installation! Epoxy’s many benefits make it the perfect material for resurfacing a concrete garage floor and our team is trained in how to do it the right way.
Before we get too deep into the benefits though, let’s discuss exactly what a garage epoxy coating even is.
What is a Garage Epoxy Coating?
Let’s get this out of the way immediately. Garage epoxy coating is not the same as epoxy paint although some contractors may tell you differently. Epoxy paint is paint that has trace amounts of epoxy within it and offers very little protective benefits. When we talk about coating, you want the real thing.
Epoxy coating is a two-part compound composed of a resin and a hardener. When applied over your concrete garage floor, the two parts combine and begin to harden creating a super durable, highly resistant barrier. This barrier seals and protects the concrete below and blocks out harmful elements from reaching it.
This protective layer is why so many business and home owners are flocking to epoxy as their concrete coating of choice! That’s just a few of its benefits though and there are so many more when adding it to a concrete garage floor.

TYPES OF GARAGE EPOXY
Did you know that concrete epoxy flooring comes in a wide variety of designs and colors? Well, it does! Here are just four of those designs that our customers often choose for their garage floors. If none of these meet your fancy though, give us a ring and we’ll talk it out as well as provide a free estimate!
Chip Epoxy
Epoxy chips (or epoxy color chips) are randomly shaped pieces that come in a wide variety of colors. Choosing this option for your garage will give you a one of a kind look as no two garages with epoxy chips are ever the same. The biggest benefit of choosing epoxy chips however are the variety of colors that can be mixed and matched! Some chip combos include red/black/white, blue/crème/black, and even brown/green/orange. Regardless of your targeted look, chances are there is a combo of chip colors to get you there.
Solid Epoxy
Striped Epoxy
If you’re working in a commercial garage, chances are you’ll want to look into striped epoxy. This type of epoxy is striped to either designate a loading area or ensure the right pieces are put back at the end of the day. These can be customized to fir your needs so be sure to ask about it if you run a commercial garage!
Flake Epoxy
Flake epoxy will make your home or business garage really pop while being fully protected! This type of epoxy is made with the inclusion of vinyl flakes into the epoxy that form a mosaic look that will draw guests and customer’s attention. In fact, they may never stop looking. What’s interesting about flake epoxy though is there are multiple different ways for it to be broadcast which result in completely different and distinct looks.
Why Choose EPOXY FLOORING?
The Benefits of Epoxy in Garages
-
Resistance to staining from grease, oil, and other common automotive liquids.
-
Resistance to spills so if gasoline or another liquid are dropped, clean-up is super easy!
-
Resistant to corrosion to most acids and harsh chemicals.
-
High durability to regular vehicle and foot traffic.
-
High durability and resistance to impact from heavy machinery!
While all of these advantages are beneficial for both residential and industrial garages, the impact resistance really shines when used with commercial garage flooring. Chances are your mechanics or drivers are dropping heavy tools, using industry jacks, or other machinery on a regular basis. Where concrete will crack and chip overtime, epoxy doesn’t buckle. It’s a great investment for both business and home owners especially given how easy the installation process is!
Our Pain-Free Garage Epoxy Installation Process
Yes, you could try to do this yourself but we highly recommend working with a team of experts such as ourselves. This will help to avoid common issues such as applying too much sealer, or installing in temperatures that will negatively affect the end result. Our team has a straight forward process we follow and with garages, it’s that much easier. Here’s a basic breakdown of how we do it:
-
First, our team will investigate the existing concrete. If issues in structure are present, we may perform some initial repairs before preparing the area to accept the epoxy.
-
Once prepped, we then apply primer and let it dry.
-
Once the primer is dried, we’ll then apply the first coat of epoxy and let it dry.
-
Finally, once the first coat is dried, we’ll apply the second coat and give it about three days to dry before reviewing.
After the installation process completes and the epoxy has dried, you’ll immediately notice the difference in its appearance which you can also customize a bit more depending on your style and preference!
Epoxy Flake Styles: Light Broadcast vs Full Broadcast vs Random Broadcast
As mentioned earlier, flake epoxy is a wonderful choice for concrete coating as its looks change depending on the broadcast method. The industry standards are light, full, or random broadcasts with each providing a distinct look.
To start, let’s discuss what a full broadcast for epoxy flakes will get you. As its name suggests, a full broadcast will cover just about every inch of the concrete providing a fully filled in look which may appear more like stone than concrete once it’s done. We typically will recommend this style for customers looking for a more transformative look.
Compared to a full broadcast, a light or random broadcast is basically cutting the amount of flakes per square foot down to 25% or less of the full amount. This gives more importance to the base color as the flakes will now act as accent marks versus the primary focus. The end result is a more artistic look that protects as well as attracts.
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of these three choices as once the garage epoxy is set, you’ll enjoy its durability and resistances for years to come as well as the unique look you set. Our team has completed hundreds of these installs and can tailor the options to your needs – all you’ve got to do is ask!

FAQ's
Epoxy garage flooring in low traffic areas (typically residential) can last up to a decade or longer! This time is cut down considerably for high traffic, business garages, but is far longer than normal concrete will last. Don’t worry as should your epoxy begin to show signs of issues, our team can investigate and assist with a new coating if necessary.
Ah! It sounds like the measurements were off or you installed it in incorrect temperatures. While epoxy is relatively forgiving, mixing too much resin with too little hardener or having it dry in too cold or hot of an area will impact the final results. Stickiness is often a result of letting it “cure” in colder temperatures where the chemical bonding is not proceeding as it should. We highly recommend working with a professional to get it installed and, if you’ve already done it, give us a ring as we can help restore your garage floor!
Garage floors, unlike indoor concrete floors, will typically be affected by the air outside. Epoxy is a naturally cooler material as it is heat resistant so yes, it will become cold but not so cold that it will do any serious damage. Typically, epoxy floors will be a few degrees cooler than the air in the room. So if it’s 70 degrees outside, epoxy may sit at around 65 degrees. We do have some techniques we can employ to battle this though so give us a ring!
